Bought an Electric Bike

I just bought an electric bike online Volt Metro... is a small foldable bike for $1300. Because i do not know how to drive manual so is hard for me to get a cheap second hand auto car in Maidstone. For around $1500 you could easily obtain a second hand manual car which is 7-8 years old. However you probably have to fork out another $1000 for road tax and insurance.

I've never ridden an electric bike and is really great fun to have one. It weighs around 20kg and it have a lever where you push and it will help you to kick start your bike, hence it is a great feature if you always have to stop for traffic as it is hard to ride (kick start) the bicycle initially for the first few sec as it weigh 20kg. Then there is Automatic and 4 level of assist, the assist make it effortless to go up hill but going down hill is too fast and i find myself keep braking alot.

Even though foldable is convenient for storage as i can keep this in my house, however being small also means there is a slight lack of stability compare to the bigger boys. The main problem that i had with this bike is because Maidstone doesn't have any supplier for this bike and i have to order online for them to send to a bike shop to assemble for me and i go and collect it.

The first thing when i went to collect my bike is i notice the rear wheel is causing alot of sound due to mechanical disc brake rubbing on the disc. The person who assemble my bike is not familiar with mechanical disc brake since he only deal with bigger electric bike that uses hydraulic disc brake.

So i went to another shop and the mechanical person told me basically i need to change the rear disc for $40 eventhough i just bought the bike and it comes with warranty, but i had no idea how to send it back to london. So in the end i have to pay $40 to fix my newly bought bike. Currently it is still in the shop so i don't know how it will end up yet. But lesson learned, never buy electrical stuff online if they do not have service center in your area. I just wish the bike doesn't cause me anymore problem otherwise i might as well spend around $4-5k to buy an auto car.

So now i have a great accommodation, with good location, 15mins walk to city for food and grocery and 15mins cycle to school, I have an electric bike and is 10mins cycling to david llyod gym. Everything is finally in place now. So far out of 70+ people in my class i knew only around 15people by close, So next week will be socialising week for me, i'm more settle now and ready to mingle :)
