Ice Skating
Is Saturday and i'm going ice skating. I am thinking if i could do roller blade then it wouldn't be a problem to ice skate then rite... since it's something similar to roller blade... Wutever!!... since i got nothing to do my as well go have so fun... So me and a bunch of friends meet up at utopia in myaree and have our dinner before departing... The road to the location is so dead... is located at industrial area..
Initially is so cold in the rink.... just minutes into skating... i twisted my arm... thats for not warming up first :( Generally you will skate in the clockwise position... after awhile there will be commentary for you to skate counter clockwise (probably to balanced out the side of ice rink used)
A bit shy to take photos coz nobody seems to be taking it and is so crowded.... seems like when you take pic everyone u look at you for a sec....
Nila (person on right) done skating before... when she hold my hands and lead me with some speed... it felt so much safer/more balance than skating alone..
Everyone is flying pass me.... so scare if they accidentally knock me... 100% i will lose my balance.... There's alot of occasion when i knew i was going to bang into someone cause i don't know how to brake (how the hell you brake... with rollerblade there is at least a stopper at the back) lucky they smart always avoid getting into a clash... phew..
I'm too afraid to fall down and i don't wanna get any bruise... so i just skate normally like beginners... lucky there's alot of noobs around that keep on holding to the wall and walking instead of skating.... feel so much more confident when they are around haha..
The location is known as Cockburn Ice Arena, basically is like a huge long warehouse with 70% consist of ice surface (60m x 30m) made up of artificial rinks (ice rinks means frozen body of water)
Once you entered the warehouse you'll come across the counter, where you pay $17 per person and they will give you a chop (some kind of 3 ice crystal) on your hand... they only open at specific times which usually last 3-4 hours longs... the door is the entrance on the skate arena while on the left hand side is the cafeteria...
wohoo.. laced up my skates and ready to get on ice and have so fun.. There is a board where you measure your feet size... my was 42... Tell them your size and they will hand you out a pair from their big-opened storage area.... Initially is so cold in the rink.... just minutes into skating... i twisted my arm... thats for not warming up first :( Generally you will skate in the clockwise position... after awhile there will be commentary for you to skate counter clockwise (probably to balanced out the side of ice rink used)

Eventually the ice will be cut and pitted.....This is the time when everyone leaves the rink...and let Ice Surfacer do its job...the truck will clean and smooth the surface of ice rink by laying down a layer of clean water, which will then freeze to form a smooth ice surface...
In between the periods... there will be a small competition where beginners like me will automatically go out of the rink.... where others will gather at one side of the rink at race to the other end....
In the end ice skating seems kinda fun.... i'll surely be going back again :) But still instead of skating... i prefer more... Someday if got abit money might go to place where got snow eg. New Zealand to ski :)
